Bishop Eddie Long said Sunday that sexual misconduct lawsuits filed against him by four young men have made his faith only stronger.
Long spoke to his congregation at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Georgia, according to an Associated Press report cited in the New York Daily News.
"In times of challenge there are several things that come out," Long said. "Your faith will be strengthened or weakened. My faith is being strengthened."
Long, who has preached against homosexuality and offered counseling to "cure" gay people, stands accused of luring young men into sexual relationships, including a charge from one man that Long gave him sleeping pills in order to abuse him. Members of Long's congregation are reported to overwhelmingly to support their leader.
