Former Miami Vice star Don Johnson has signed on to play the title character of Allan Mann in Sex and the City writer-director Michael Patrick King's new NBC drama, A Mann's World.

Taking a cue a from the 1975 Warren Beatty classic, Shampoo, A Mann's World tells the story of a straight, 50-ish Beverly Hills hairdresser who struggles to stay relevant in a beauty-obsessed world. In an attempt to keep business alive, he buys the day spa next door to his salon.

The show being targeted for a fall debut on NBC.

King's last project for TV was the cult favorite The Comeback starring Lisa Kudrow.
