Many florists, DJs, and wedding planners in the Washington, D.C., area have seen their business boom since the advent of same-sex marriage in the district last year.
The nonprofit Williams Institute estimated the capital region could see $52.2 million in new revenue thanks to the gay weddings. Though no one is tracking numbers to know if that estimate is accurate, many entrepreneurs tell The Washington Post that business has never been better.
"Many couples bring those that are closest to them, especially when they're from out of town," Washington hotelier Sandra Gartrell tells the Post. "This has been a great added revenue source."
