Teen Charged With Hate Crime in Bus Assault

A 17-year-old Madison, Wis., teenager has been charged with a hate crime for allegedly punching a gay passenger on a bus.

The Associated Press reports that Jayvon Flemming was charged Wednesday with battery to a public transit passenger as a hate crime after an incident Sunday in which he and two others allegedly teased a man about being gay before Flemming punched him.

Flemming had reportedly once lived in the same foster home as the alleged victim.
