Britney Spears and Cher are on the wish list for David O. Russell, director of the recent Oscar-winning drama The Fighter, according to an interview with New York magazine.
Asked who he'd like to work with, no matter how far-fetched, the famously intense Russell answers "Britney," before suggesting the answer might get him in trouble. "I think Britney could be great in a lot of different things, and I'm a huge fan of hers," he says. "And I actually auditioned her for a couple things." Russell says he didn't audition Spears for The Fighter, but he thinks she "could have played one of the sisters when she was in her rough period." He also says that he thinks Spears is a great entertainer and that he's rooting for her.
Russell goes on to say that he'd also like to work with other gay icons including Cher and Rihanna.
