The nation's largest employer lags behind in workplace equality compared to an increasingly progressive private sector, The Washington Post reports in a Wednesday feature.
Despite LGBT employment rights gains in the Obama administration -- including leave time to take care of a sick partner, for example, or relocation benefits -- federal employees are still battling for equal health benefits and greater visibility across all agencies.
"The glass is a third full," says Diego Sanchez, a transgender legislative assistant to Rep. Barney Frank and leader of the Federal Equality Council. "We need to step up the pace."
