During a series of pastoral visits on Christmas Day, Cardinal Francis George attempted to clarify comments he made three days ago about the gay community.

On Wednesday, George warned Fox News that a planned route taking Chicago's Gay Pride parade past one of the city's oldest Catholic churches could lead to marchers morphing "into something like the Ku Klux Klan, demonstrating in the streets against Catholicism."

Speaking to Chicago's ABC News 7 on Sunday, George said, "Obviously, it's absurd to say that the gay and lesbian community are the Ku Klux Klan, but if you organize a parade that looks like parades that we've had in our past because it stops us from worshipping God, well, then that's the comparison, but it's not with people and people -- it's parade-parade."
