Hi there,
🚨 A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to stop misgendering trans people on their passports. On Friday, a judge in Massachusetts blocked Trump's move to cease offering the X gender marker on U.S. passports or allowing passport holders to change their gender marker while a case against the government moves forward.
🩺 Is PrEP in danger? The Supreme Court will hear a case on Monday that may allow businesses to opt out of covering PrEP and other preventative health services in their insurance plans. While the case began as a religious objection to PrEP coverage by a group of conservative Christian business owners in Texas, it’s evolved into a full-blown challenge to Obamacare's preventive care mandate. A ruling against the government could jeopardize no-cost access to cancer screenings, STI testing, contraception, diabetes care, and more.
🧳 What's the safest place for queer people to travel to the U.S.? A company has released a report naming cities in the country that it says offer a safe refuge for LGBTQ+ people looking to vacation without worrying about discrimination. (Yes, we've reached the point where these things need to be considered.)
Onward and upward,
Alex Cooper
