Which of these deserving LGBT icons would've you picked as your Person of the Year?
The Advocate's annual Person of the Year was just announced, and although the men and women of the Supreme Court were featured on the cover of our print issue for their role in implementating nationwide marriage equality, there were plenty of other, equally deserving people who made our short list of finalists.
LGBT entertainers like Miley Cyrus, Caitlyn Jenner, and Lee Daniels were all spotlighted alongside notable public figures like bisexual Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, gay Catholic priest Krzysztof Charamsa, and #BlackLivesMatter activists Alicia Garza and Patrisse Cullors. The applicants seeking same-sex marriage in Rowan County, Ky. (despite clerk Kim Davis's defiance) were also honored, next to the protesters of the Stonewall movie who kick-started a modern-day discussion of our real history, and the courageous trans men and women who serve in the military.
If the choice had been in your hands, who would you have picked as this year's Person of the Year? Vote using the poll below!
