Ron Amato explores the containment of the muscular male body in  variety of ways. (See his scary, sexy Artist Spotlight from 2015 on our site here.)

Amato currently has a Kickstarter page going to fund his latest project, The Box, and this looks worthwhile.

Focused on themes of isolation, desire, conflict, and empowerment, Ron Amato uses a series of boxes to create visual metaphors, echoing his development from adolescence to adulthood through over 100 color and black-and-white photographs.

At 96 pages, in a smart 10-by-10-inch format, The Box will be printed in Italy, sheathed in a clothbound slipcase, and available worldwide by January.

Amato is currently an associate professor and the chairman of the photography department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He has exhibited extensively in the U.S. and internationally, been published in a number of anthologies, and photographed for fitness and sports magazines, including Men's Health, Men's Fitness, and Sports Illustrated. He lives in Brooklyn with his husband, Seth, and their two fox terriers, Ben and Zeb.

Visit Amato's website at www.ronamato.com. Be warned. There is adult content.
