Dusty St. Amand’s first photo exhibit, "Dark Days," will be hosted by the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art at the Prince Street Project Space June 24-26.
St. Amand, 29, native to the Gulf Coast of Florida, depicts moments of male vulnerability, offering a fly's view of what could be a sexual encounter or a moment of exhibition between strangers. "Dark Days" is made up of of soft moments in a time when St. Amand found himself disconnected from humanity, mired in addiction, and looking for aspirational references within every new subject he came to photograph.
"Dark Days" will feature 10-15 works by St. Amand, composed mostly of black-and-white male nudes and hypnotic layered imagery. The show will feature themes that are also present in St. Amand’s first photo-publication, Of Messages and Men: Los Angeles, which will also be on sale at the exhibition.
