Chase: NOM Ineligible for Charity Contest

Chase Community Giving, a Facebook-centered initiative that allows users to vote on how JP Morgan Chase should disburse $5 million to nonprofits, lists the National Organization for Marriage's Education Fund among some 650,000-and-counting eligible groups in the contest, as first reported by Queerty.

But a Chase spokesman asserted late Thursday that the antigay group headed by Maggie Gallagher is not eligible for charitable funds — even if it garnered sufficient votes — because it violates the contest's nondiscrimination rules. The database of groups was generated by GuideStar, a third-party firm that provides research on nonprofit groups.

“Organizations that receive votes from the guidestar database will be reviewed to make sure that they’re in the compliance with all of our guidelines,” Joe Evangelisti, head of media relations for JP Morgan Chase, told The Advocate.

According to NOM’s website, its education fund “represents another aspect of NOM's overall effort to protect marriage, engaged solely in pro-marriage education and research, making information resources available to clergy, scholars, political leaders, and activists across the country.”

The AFA is no moral authority. They are one of the worst purveyors of hate in America today. They are akin to the KKK during the 1920s; the AFA and its members are complicit in the Ugandan "final solution" to getting rid of homosexuality by genocide.

It couldn't have happened to a more despicable group of individuals than those who are members of NOM. I hope other organizations and/or charities review NOM's discriminatory practices when dealing with them. I think Chase has dealt fairly with NOM in this instance because charity isn't charity when it isn't extended to all.

I just two seconds ago paid my credit card bill with Chase, and then read this article. I'll be staying. Thank you. 365gay.com had an article recently on the gay friendliest business's to shop at come this holiday season. The article says we as a community have a 712 billion dollar a year purchasing power. Sped your money where it counts folks!

Well I don't know exactly when in the next couple years I'll be buying a house, but I know I will be, and while the terms and conditions will be the deciding factor, I'm going to be sure that a Chase mortgage is among the ones I'm looking at when I make my decision.

Well, the NOM is finally getting a taste of their own medicine. Perhaps they'll hold a protest rally, screaming that they're being discriminated against. Pardon me while I go into the next room and laugh myself silly.

Uh-oh, now they've done it. The AFA (American Family Association) is gonna come gunnin' for Chase now.
