100 years of improving life in the home. Whirlpool Corporation has a long history of support for the LGBT community as the first and only appliance manufacturer to receive a 100 score from the Human Rights Campaign.

As the first and only appliance manufacturer to receive a 100 score from the Human Rights Campaign, Whirlpool Corporation puts a strong emphasis on having appropriate policies in place to support LGBT employees. The company's vision of Every Home... Everywhere celebrates the fact that diversity is all around. Whirlpool has been creating products for a century that enhance the home with the knowledge that all types of families need to be welcomed, included, and celebrated.

For 100 years, Whirlpool's values of Integrity, Respect, Diversity and Inclusion, Teamwork and a Spirit of Winning have guided interactions among employees and met the unique needs of global consumers, including those within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Whirlpool has policies including domestic partner benefits and workplace diversity trainings, but also realizes that policies alone aren't enough to ensure equality. They joined the Business Coalition for Workplace Fairness in 2010 to encourage the passage of federal non-discrimination laws that support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers and their families. In addition, Whirlpool continues to lobby for non-discrimination laws and equal benefits for LGBT individuals in the Tennessee and Michigan communities where they operate facilities. Near their headquarters in St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, MI, they are the proud flagship sponsor of an annual golf outing that raises money for the local LGBT resource center.

Whirlpool Corporation also supports national LGBT organizations such as Out & Equal and PFLAG (Parents, Friends, and Families of Lesbians and Gays) through sponsorship, product donations and training partnerships.

Because of their continued commitment to equality, Whirlpool Corporation has become known as a great workplace for LGBT employees. Their in-house PRIDE Network provides professional development, leadership and volunteer opportunities, celebrates June Pride Month and October Coming Out Month and sponsors the annual student-led Reaching Out MBA conference.

Whirlpool's stance is to promote equality simply because it's the right thing to do for the workplace and society, and because they truly understand that moving toward full equality helps to improve lives -- one home and one family at a time.
