LGBT Comedians' Olympic Tweets: Biting Medals and Loving Gymnastics

LGBT Comedians' Olympic Tweets

The 2016 Olympics have given LGBT comedians plenty to tweet about, cheering on heroes, pointing out gaffes, and admitting they don't know why winners bite their medals.

The 2016 Olympics have been huge for LGBT people. We've been fortunate to witness a record number of out athletes performing and medaling. We've seen same-sex wedding proposals broadcast around the world. We've been shocked by the number of uncomfortable gaffes by the media when it comes to LGBT coverage, and we've been outraged by Nico Hines's exploitative gay-baiting article at The Daily Beast. With so much going on, we thought we'd look at what our favorite LGBT comedians and tweeters had to say about these historic Olympic Games. And if you're not following these hilarious people, you should be. With the Olympics being gayer than ever this year, many of us tuned in to more than just rhythmic gymnastics for the first time. So you'll pardon us if we don't necessarily understand what's going on all the time.

Some tweeters opined about intersectionality and cheered on members who were representing their communities and setting records.

Everybody loved what Leslie Jones was doing.

Tweeting about the Olympics doesn't mean you have to stop tweeting about politics.

Several appreciated the athletes' physiques.

The opening ceremonies reminded some comedians of other wonderful things.

Some people liked to imagine that they too were world-class athletes.

People shared their experiences of viewing the games.

They gave their opinions about the whole Nico Hines mess.

Some looked to the Olympics for fashion and beauty tips.

And of course we all still do love gymnastics.
