Tonight marked the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City, and the event featured appearances and speeches from a veritable who's-who of the LGBT and allied world of media and entertainment.

Among tonight's award winners was The Advocate and its sibling publication, Out, both owned by Here Media, which took home the prize for Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage. AIDS documentary How to Survive a Plague earned an award for Outstanding Documentary, and NBC's Smash was awarded Outstanding Drama. See a full list of the winners here.

Presenting the Vito Russo Award to out CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, Madonna took the stage dressed as a Boy Scout.

"Listen, I want to do good for the community," said Madonna. "But most importantly, I know how to scout for boys."

"I used to be a Girl Scout," said Madonna. "But I got kicked out. Do you want to know why? Because my skirt was too short, and I never sold enough cookies -- I ate the cookies."

Watch Madonna's entire speech below.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives, according to the organization's website. GLAAD Media Award nominees were published, released, or broadcast between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.
