Actress Kathy Najimy is in preliminary discussions with Lifetime to produce and star in her own prime-time series for the women's cable network, according to sources. Details of the project are sketchy, but the actress, whose credits include the voice of Peggy Hill on Fox's King of the Hill, is looking to land her own hour-long dramatic comedy--a departure for a network known for sticking to dramas and reality programming. Najimy has done mostly film work since leaving her most recent regular series role on NBC's Veronica's Closet, which ended in 2000. Lifetime declined comment.
