Here TV announced Tuesday that Mariel Hemingway--already a lesbian icon from her performance in Personal Best--will play a lesbian Secret Service agent in an original movie set to air on the network in early 2006. Her Line of Fire will star Hemingway as Lynn Delaney, who must rescue the vice president (David Keith) and a press secretary (Jill Bennett) after their plane crash-lands in hostile territory. Here Networks CEO and founder Paul Colichman said in a statement, "We are thrilled to take an exciting and successful genre, such as action films, and place a lesbian character as the central lead of the story.... This film reinforces our dedication to creating and producing genuine, multidimensional gay and lesbian characters that represent the wide spectrum of our community." Brian Trenchard-Smith (Here's Tides of War) will direct the script by Sherry Adamo.
