Is or Isn't Productions, run by Friends star Lisa Kudrow and openly gay writer Dan Bucatinsky (All Over the Guy), is developing three new shows for network television, reports Variety. After the demise of their HBO sitcom The Comeback, the duo hired a new senior vice president of development--Rebecca Stay, a former UPN executive--and have sold a Fox comedy written by Chris Downey (The King of Queens), loosely based on the Irish sitcom Paths to Freedom; a romantic sitcom for CBS by married authors Rick Marin and Ilene Rosenzweig; and a UPN drama by Daisy von Scherler Mayer (Party Girl, The Guru).

On his own, Bucatinsky is also developing the comedy Mia and Everyone Else for Joe Roth, Paramount TV, and CBS as well as a drama for Fox TV and Fox in collaboration with Shawn Levy. "TV is becoming increasingly difficult unless you have a very strong point of view and unless you're passionate about character-driven pieces," Bucatinsky told Variety. "We're not going to be the company competing with [Jerry] Bruckheimer for giant franchise shows." (Advocate.com)
