Capote, an examination of gay author Truman
Capote during the writing of In Cold Blood,
took three major prizes: Best Actor for Philip Seymour
Hoffman, Best Supporting Actress for Catherine Keener,
and Best First Feature for director Bennett Miller.
Laura Linney was named Best Actress for The Squid and the
Whale, which was also awarded for Noah Baumbach's
screenplay. Other Toronto prizes include Paul
