Capote has won the 18th annual University of Southern California Scripter Award for Best Adapted Screenplay of the year, reports Variety. The prize goes to both the screenwriter and the author of the original material, so both Dan Futterman and the author of the biography of the same name, Gerald Clarke, will be feted at the February 11 awards ceremony on the USC campus. Forty-six films were eligible this year, including fellow finalists Brokeback Mountain, Syriana, The Constant Gardener, and A History of Violence. Previous winners include Million Dollar Baby, The Hours, and Wonder Boys. (Advocate.com)
