Q Television
Network, one of three gay and lesbian cable networks (in
addition to Here and Logo), has shut down its production
facilities for nearly two weeks, reports Out.com.
QTN's
executive vice president of network operations, Carol
Hinnant, dispelled the notion that the network may
have permanently gone dark, saying that all
independent contractors would be rehired when production
resumes on February 13 (salaried employees are still being
paid). Hinnant said that prerecorded shows will be
programmed during the shutdown and that the network is
preparing for its exclusive coverage of this year's
Gay Games in Chicago.
Honey Labrador,
who cohosts and produces QTN's live morning show
Brunch, told Out.com, "We are completely
committed to what it is Q Television does, and this is,
provide original, live programming. So we are taking
until the 13th of February to concentrate on our live
programming." No mention of the shutdown was
included on the network's Web site, QTelevision.com.
