Madonna will
begin her latest world tour in Los Angeles on May 21, with
ticket prices topping out at $350 in most U.S. venues,
organizers said Monday. The tour will promote her
latest album, Confessions on a Dance Floor , which has sold about 1.4 million copies in
the United States since its November release.
Contrary to
speculation that the outing would play smaller venues than
usual, the Confessions Tour will visit arenas and stadia
around the world. Dates are scheduled through
September 3 in Amsterdam. A press release said Madonna
would also play Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, but no
dates were indicated.
Madonna was last
on the road in 2004 with her Re-Invention Tour, which
grossed $125 million, according to Billboard
Boxscore. She will warm up for the new tour with a
previously announced April 30 date at the Coachella
Valley Music and Arts Festival in Southern California,
the first festival appearance of her career.
