The Fulton County tax assessors office is being sued by Elton John.
The singer claims that his 12,000 square foot condo located in the very trendy and always hopping Buckhead district of Atlanta was inaccurately assessed. The tax assessors valued the condo at $4.6 million, John believes it is only worth $3.7 million.
This difference in assessments could mean an additional $16,000 a year in taxes for John. If John looses his case he can expect to pay $77,250 a year to the government, according to the AP.
John is not the first to complain about the Fulton County tax assessors. Last year an audit of the office resulted in three of the five assessors resigning, and chief appraiser stepping down from his post.
