Jim Broadbent
joins Hairspray

The final hole in the casting for New Line's Hairspray has been filled. Jim Broadbent (Iris, Bridget Jones Diary) has signed on to play Wilbur Turnblad, the father of lead character Tracy Turnblad, reports Variety.

Broadbent joins the already star-studded cast of Queen Latifah, John Travolta, Amanda Bynes, and Michelle Pfeiffer. The film will begin shooting in Toronto on September 5 and is slated for release on December 21, 2007. (The Advocate)
