fund-raiser brings in $1.3 million for Democrats

A fund-raiser Barbra Streisand hosted Thursday night at her Malibu, Calif., home for Democratic congressional candidates brought in $1.3 million, reports Reuters.com.

The gala was attended by 120 guests, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, actress Eva Longoria, musicians Melissa Etheridge and Kenny G, actor Dick Van Dyke, and producer Norman Lear.

Guests paid $25,000 to $50,000 per couple in support of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, whose goal is to increase the Democrats' majority in the House in 2008.

Streisand hosted a benefit for Democratic Senate candidates back in 1986 that brought in $1.2 million. (The Advocate)
