Production will begin on a film based on the American Girl series of books and memorabilia, starring Little Miss Sunshine actress Abigail Breslin and directed by Patricia Rozema. The story follows Kit Kittredge, a young girl who helps her family survive as they struggle through the Depression era. It is set to be released in July 2008, Variety reports.
