ABC is eyeing several candidates to fill Rosie O'Donnell's now-vacant seat on the daytime talkfest The View, but one rumored to be standing out is Whoopi Goldberg.
According to the supermarket tabloid Star magazine, ABC executives are likely to hire Goldberg from a pool of talent that includes Kathy Griffin, Gayle King, and Ricki Lake.
"As far as everyone at ABC is concerned, she has the job," a network insider told Star. "Whoopi has a radio show, she lives in NYC, and she is an institution. She also is liberal and outspoken but not crazy like Rosie was. She will be a perfect fit as far as the ladies on The View are concerned." (The Advocate)
