The Queen of Pop
has sold her stake in label Maverick Records to her
bosses at Warner Music Group, according to NME.com.
Warner had
partial ownership of Maverick but bought back Madonna's
stake in the label. Madge, along with her business
partner Guy Oseary, owned 60% of the label to Warner's
40. Maverick is the home of Alanis Morissette and U.K.
dance-rock outfit the Prodigy.
Maverick filed
suit against Warner in March, claiming Warner mismanaged
the label and cost Madonna and Oseary millions. Warner
countersued, saying Maverick cost them millions
of dollars. The buyout resolved the dueling lawsuits.
In the midst of
all this, rumors are swirling in the record industry that
cash cow Madonna is about to leave Warner for a new label.
And to add to the drama, one of Madonna's new songs
off her upcoming album for Warner--a Pharell
produced track called "And the Beat Goes On"--was
leaked to the blogosphere on Wednesday. (The
