"American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" may have been the Halston-hued theme of Monday night's annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, but we saw a different motif -- perhaps "Gay Man: Tired of Anna Wintour Hogging the Spotlight."
Gay designers Tom Ford, Thakoon Panichgul, Karl Lagerfeld, and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez mingled on the red carpet with the likes of Vogue's Andre Leon Talley and interior design magnate Nate Berkus. Some female gay icons -- including Sarah Jessica Parker and Tina Fey -- also walked the carpet.
Here's a slideshow recap of the evening's arrivals.
