Inspired by the ratings success of her first appearance on Saturday Night Live at age 88, a new Facebook campaign seeks to enlist comedic legend Betty White as co-host of the Primetime Emmys with Jimmy Fallon this August.

Abe Gurko, writing in the Huffington Post, says that last weekend's SNL with White "had the best ratings in over a year and a half." He advises NBC to welcome her to the August 29 telecast with Fallon.

A Facebook campaign aims to accomplish just that, with more than 500 fans and growing. White earned her SNL hosting gig thanks to a Facebook campaign that generated hundreds of thousands of fans. She professed ignorance of the social networking tool throughout the effort.

"And now that I do know what it is, I have to say - it sounds like a huge waste of time," said White in her SNL monologue.
