Harlan, Bridge, Los Angeles, Calif., 2016. Read more about Blake Little's book "Work" below.
Longtime Advocate contributor Blake Little is releasing a new book, Work. Little has received worldwide success with his previous photo books, Preservation, Company of Men, and Manifest. He is also one of the most sought-after photographers in Los Angeles for his great editorial and celebrity images. Little’s work has also been the focus of numerous gallery shows and exhibited in museums.
The subject matter is familiar to fans of Little’s previous work, but his new models broaden the gay masculine archetype he established in his previous books. There is new individuality and even humor, and a wider range of ages and types.
Little’s book is more than just photographs of men; it also addresses his need to take pictures, his compulsion to photograph as a practice.
In his foreword, musician Bob Mould writes, “The need to work is essential. It’s what Blake does best.”
