WATCH: Alan Cumming Challenges You to Be Celibate for a Year

Last December, the Food and Drug Administration announced that it would end its lifetime ban on gay and bisexual men giving blood. That's the good news. The bad news is that only men who haven't had sexual contact with other men in a year will be allowed to donate. Enter the Celibacy Challenge, a PSA and social media campaign launched by GLAAD.

The debut spot stars the always socially conscious Alan Cumming, who has helpfully conceived of a few solid strategies to distract yourself from the more carnal attractions ... or you could sign the petition urging the FDA to change its questionnaire, and assess donors based on risk rather than sexual orientation.
