The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria this week named several new committee chairs in its efforts to raise and distribute money to fight the three diseases around the world. Randall Tobias, head of the U.S. State Department Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator, was appointed chair of the policy and strategy committee; Lieve Fransen, head of the human and social development unit at the Directorate-General for Development of the European Commission, was named chair of the finance and audit committee; Urbain Olanguen Awono, public health minister of Cameroon, was appointed chair of the portfolio committee; and Anandi Yuvaraj of AIDS Alliance India was named chair of the ethics committee.
