The fourth annual National LGBT Health Awareness Week is set for March 12-March 18. The week is designed to promote lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health in local communities across the country. The theme for this year's awareness week is "Own Your Health. Get Checked Out," and is focused on encouraging members of the gay community to be more aware of their own health and to take steps to remain in good health, including getting regular physical exams.

The 2006 National LGBT Health Awareness Week is supported by the National Coalition for LGBT Health, Washington, D.C.'s Whitman-Walker Clinic, and Baltimore's Chase Brexton Health Services.
