Craig Miller, founder of the nation's first AIDS Walk in New York City and San Francisco 's AIDS Walk in 1987, was honored for his AIDS activism on Sunday with a proclamation from San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom. The proclamation was presented during the opening ceremonies of the 20th annual AIDS Walk in the city. AIDS Walks organized by MZA Events nationwide have raised more than $250 million for AIDS organizations around the country. Sunday's San Francisco AIDS Walk brought in nearly $3.8 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 43 other AIDS organizations in the Bay Area. More than 25,000 people participated in the fund-raiser. (The Advocate)
