Elton John Christmas Ad Depicts His Life Through His Pianos

The tearjerker of an ad for the British retailer John Lewis set to John's "Your Song" is a moving homage to John's music and influence on pop culture.

One of pop and rock's greatest pianists of all time, Elton John is renowned for tickling the ivories like no one before or since. Now a new Christmas ad for the British retailer John Lewis capitalizes on John's career in a tearjerking ad that features John singing his hit "Your Song" and playing the piano (along with five actors standing in for various stages of his life).

The cinematic ad flashes back through John's career from sold-out stadiums to the incipient stages of his piano playing. The ad makes the argument that not all Christmas gifts are equal -- some can change culture and art forever.
