Michael Chabon to write Spider-Man sequel
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon is the latest writer to take a crack at the sequel to box-office smash Spider-Man, reports Variety. Chabon, who is straight, has often included gay characters and themes in his novels, including The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Wonder Boys, and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. He is currently adapting the latter novel, about the early days of the comic-book industry, for the big screen as well.
The Spider-Man sequel, due in theaters in May 2004, was originally to have been written by Shanghai Noon scribes Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. David Koepp, who received sole screenwriting credit on the first film, also wrote a draft.
