A teacher and adviser for the gay-straight alliance at Capuchino High School in San Bruno, Calif., was inundated with about 2,000 homophobic E-mails from one E-mail account after the school newspaper ran a story about the GSA, the San Mateo County Times reports. "We're hopeful that we'll identify the person who sent the messages to the teacher," said Thomas Mohr, superintendent of the San Mateo Union High School District. "We have a mutual respect policy and won't tolerate any form of harassment." Capt. Neil Telford of the San Bruno police department said that the person who sent the E-mails is guilty of unlawful use of an electronic communication device with the intent to annoy a person. He added that the department would seek a hate-crime enhancement with the charge. The teacher, Daniel Kelly, spoke to his students about the incident, and according to the County Times, Mohr said the students were both "upset and compassionate with the teacher."
