Producer of Sondheim's latest Bounce-s out

While it remains uncertain whether Stephen Sondheim's new musical Bounce will make it to Broadway, it's definite that producer Roger Berlind is no longer attached to the property, according to Variety. Speaking to a reporter at the opening-night party for out Pulitzer winner Nilo Cruz's Anna in the Tropics--which Berlind is also producing--he told a Variety reporter that Bounce's "actors have dispersed. There are no Broadway theaters available." Not helping matters for the show were its less-than-gushing reviews. John Weidman, who wrote Bounce's book, said, "What may or may not happen is up in the air. Roger Berlind has made his decision." Speaking for Sondheim, director Harold Prince, and the show's entire creative staff, Weidman added, "We're quite satisfied with this cast, this production, and the design. We'll be inventive and creative about what happens next with this production."
