While on a whistle-stop campaign swing through Missouri on Thursday, John Kerry's vice presidential running mate, John Edwards of North Carolina, affirmed the Democratic ticket's anti-gay marriage stance, saying they had no objection to Missouri's overwhelming vote this week in favor of a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. "We're both opposed to gay marriage and believe that states should be allowed to decide this question,' Edwards told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, adding, however, that they oppose a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.
