Ad typo sends Australian Idol fans to gay porn Web site
Teenage fans of Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan wound up visiting a Web site dedicated to the gay porn star of the same name because of an error in congratulatory newspaper ads, reports The Australian. The ads left a crucial ".au" off the URL of the singer's site. Telstra Bigpond, the company that had paid $3 million Australian for exclusive rights to distribute the song online, was left embarrassed and apologetic. "BigPond deeply regrets the inclusion of the incorrect Web site address in an advertisement celebrating Casey's Australian Idol win," said BigPond spokesman Craig Middleton in a statement. "We have left no stone unturned finding a way to stop it. It's an example of the awful consequences of human error. We should have picked it up."
Gay porn idol Casey Donovan--ne Calvin Culver--appeared in such legendary adult titles as The Other Side of Aspen and Boys in the Sand as well as in Radley Metzger's Score before dying of AIDS-related illness in 1987.
