Longtime college basketball announcer Billy Packer used an antigay slur last Friday in an interview on The Charlie Rose Show, reports Radaronline.com.

Rose was interviewing Packer, who was in Atlanta for the men's Final Four tournament. When Rose joked to Packer that he could hop on a plane and be a runner for Packer, Packer replied, laughing: "You always fag out on that one for me, you know."

Packer invited controversy in 1996 when he called Allen Iverson (then a point guard at Georgetown) a "tough monkey." In 2000 he reportedly told two female ushers at Duke, "Since when do we let women control who gets into a men's basketball game? Why don't you go find a women's game to let people into?" Packer issued an apology to Duke students after that incident.

Neither CBS nor Packer has commented on the comments made during the Charlie Rose interview. (The Advocate)
