The 16-year-old who
confessed that he killed gay New York radio journalist
George Weber after responding to an ad for sex on Craigslist
told the
New York Post
he would only share his story if he were paid for it.
A reporter for the
Post
visited John Katehis over the weekend at the Bellevue
psychiatric ward. According to the reporter, Katehis said he'd
only tell his side of the story "for cash."
The
Post
reports:
Wearing a light green jumpsuit and a menacing scowl on his
face, Katehis again made clear there was only one way
he'd spill the beans.
"Is this a cash offer?" snarled Katehis.
"Cash offers only!"
Once it became clear no money would be exchanged, Katehis
shot up and yelled again, "Cash offers only!" and
stormed out.
Police say that Katehis
admitted to last week's killing of George Weber during a
drug-fueled rage, according to
Newsday
. Katehis allegedly went to Weber's Brooklyn home,
answering an ad on Craigslist to be paid $60 for rough sex.
Katehis told detectives
that he killed 47-year-old Weber in self-defense. Police are
skeptical of the self-defense claim
because Weber's body was reportedly found bound at
the ankles with duct tape, and stabbed about 50 times.
The night of the
stabbing, witnesses said that they saw Katehis pacing outside
of the apartment, and others said they saw him on the train
with a bloody hand, according to WCBS News.
