A Different Light Bookstore, an iconic institution in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood, appears to be closing, The Bay Citizen reports.
Blogger Scott James noted that the LGBT bookstore has put up "Everything Must Go" signs and that Castro residents say it's expected to close this spring. He could not reach owner Bill Barker for comment, but observed that last year Barker had called the future "a big question mark" and said digital products such as Kindle were depressing book sales.
A Different Light has closed its stores in New York and West Hollywood, leaving only the San Francisco store, which has been open since 1979. It also sells books online. Read more here.
