Moral Outcry Sinks Hotel Sex Club

Newcountyx390

A plan to convert a 170-year-old hotel building into an exclusive sex club in Gloucester, England, was sunk by moral objections from the local community, which prompted the city council to vote against the development project.

Council members said the plan for the New County Hotel (pictured) on Southgate Street in the city center failed to "reinforce Gloucester's special character and sense of place," according to the BBC.

The hotel, formerly known as the Ram Inn, is located opposite one Christian church and nearly next door to another.

According to the planning application for the venue as reported by the BBC, "The private members' club would comprise an exclusive venue for people with alternative sexual lifestyles such as gay men and women, bisexual men and women, transvestites, cross-dressers, cross-genders, variables, and swingers."
