People who need Barbra Streisand's castoffs are the luckiest people in the world. The superstar entertainer plans to sell more than 400 items she has personally collected over the years at an auction scheduled for October 17-18 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.
Streisand, a lifelong collector, will purge her Beverly Hills, Malibu, and New York homes of many unique items, including personal clothing, iconic costumes from her films The Way We Were, Funny Lady, and Yentl, paintings, Stickley furniture, a dental cabinet, and even a custom wig piece made of human hair from the 1970 musical On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.
"The community is better served if I get rid of it and give all the proceeds to my foundation, which does really good work," Streisand said. She plans to donate all proceeds from the sale to the Streisand Foundation, which supports children's, women's, environmental, and political causes.

The singer's latest album, Love Is the Answer, a collection of jazz standards, will be released on September 29.
