Out directors Lee Daniels, Tom Ford, and Rob Marshall and their acclaimed films Precious, A Single Man, and Nine, respectively, were conspicuously absent from the National Board of Review awards, which were announced today. Precious star Gabourey Sabide received an award for female breakthrough performance, but otherwise the three films, widely presumed to be contenders for year-end awards, did not score with NBR voters. The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures consists of film professionals, educators, historians, and students and will present the awards at the organization's annual gala January 12 in New York.
