Matthew Mitcham Most Influential Gay Aussie

Olympic diver and two-time Advocate cover boy Matthew Mitcham, pop star Sia, and MTV personality Ruby Rose have topped the list of the 25 most influential gay and lesbian Australians, announced on Wednesday.

All three have appeared on the list before. This year's newcomers include poet Dorothy Porter and transgender activist Stefanie Imbruglia.

The list is compiled from nominations by the Australian public.

"It's always fascinating to look back on the past twelve months at who has been influential," says Tim Duggan, cofounder of the Australian gay publication Same Same, "and every year the breadth of influence continues to amaze us."
