A national leader in the "ex-gay," "reparative therapy" movement is a convicted felon who served a federal prison sentence in the 1980s for mail fraud.

According to an investigation by SouthFloridaGayNews.com and the anti-conversion therapy organization Truth Wins Out, Arthur Abba Goldberg, the c-founder of Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality (JONAH), masterminded bond and investment schemes for a Wall Street firm totaling $11 million. Goldberg pleaded guilty "to numerous felonies in multiple jurisdictions" in 1989 and served an 18-month prison sentence as part of a plea bargain.

"We have long considered Arthur Goldberg a con artist, but our investigation shows he is also an ex-con," Truth Wins Out executive director Wayne Besen said. "His diabolical past mirrors his dishonest present-day work with JONAH. Whether it was shady deals on Wall Street or shading the truth on gay issues, Goldberg is someone who lacks credibility and can't be trusted."
