Elton Calls Jesus a Superintelligent Gay Man

Music legend Elton John gives his take on Jesus in a Web exclusive for Parade magazine, telling reporter Dotson Rader that he believes the religious figure was a "compassionate, super-intelligent gay man."

It is unclear what specific question Rader asked to prompt that statement. The Web exclusive provides outtakes of John talking on topics like drugs, fame and his relationship with partner David Furnish.

Here's his "take on Christianity," according to Parade.com.

"I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East -- you're as good as dead."
